The owners wanted to build a house at Karandeniya where they could entertain and find a balance between the modern design they desired and a more direct relationship to nature. These freestanding volumes in concrete and glass are spaced and configured to create the different scales of indoor-outdoor space that flow between them. Oversize sliding glass doors can pocket completely away to literally dissolve the physical boundaries between the interior and the exterior, creating an uninterrupted flow from the rear courtyard to the main living space to the pool area.
